Inspired by a poem by Hardy 'Lulworth Cove a Century back' an ode to John Keats, commemorating his visit to Lulworth Cove before setting off to Rome.It is also referred to in 'Desperate Remedies', the story ‘A Tradition of 1804’, and it also features in 'Far From the Madding Crowd', where Sergeant Troy ‘goes for a swim’ and disappears for a number of years, only to suddenly reappear and be shot by Boldwood!
